EMOTIONALLY HEALTHY TWINS
Unfortunately, cultural stereotypes and societal expectations about
twins seem intransigent.  In spite of all the multiples being born today,
there is still very little material addressing the emotional difficulties of
navigating through life as a twin.  Many parents feel reluctant to talk
about their twins’ struggles because being a twin is purported to be a
truly remarkable and rewarding experience.  While in many ways it is,
frequently twinship is perceived as an idealized state that is left
unanalyzed or dismissed as a biological given.  In a positive tone, my
book attempts to address the developmental challenges that twins
encounter so that parents can be aware and knowledgeable about
what twins specifically require to grow up as healthy and unique
individuals.
MY SELF, YOUR SELF: Creating a Healthy Adult Twin Relationship
After I published Emotionally Healthy Twins, I received many inquiries
from adult twins looking for a source that discussed the emotional
aspects of twinship in adulthood.  I realized that there was not a book
dedicated solely to the understanding of adult twins' developmental
challenges.  I believe that my research findings will be particularly
interesting and enlightening to parents of young twins.  Understanding
some the the struggles which adult twins confront can have an impact on
your parenting decisions. My new book will be another invaluable resource
for adult twins that encounter difficulties understanding why their
growing up as a twin has impacted their intimate relationships as well as
inhibited their ability to be authentic and honest with their twin, and to
go their separate ways, leaving the comfort, familiarity, and support of
the twin relationship in order to explore as a twin can influence the
choices and challenges involved in establishing and nurturing adult
relationships.
